This song is obviously about betrayal, but giving and receiving apologies in many contexts can be just as painful.  Even though the lyrics say,  “it’s too late to apologize” the song says to me that the singer is not ready to forgive – that an apology will fall on deaf ears, the emotions are running too high.  Judging by the sadness that is conveyed in the vocals and melody, I don’t blame him!  However, I don’t believe that it is ever too late to apologize, but perhaps too early to be forgiven.  There is a healing process that has to take place and with enough time there is no such thing as too late for an apology.
